Welcome To VicodinWithdrawal.org
Hello everyone.
Welcome to vicodinwithdrawal.org.
This is my first post, and I’m going to make it a pretty short one.
If you’re here, then either you or your loved one is experiencing that all too familiar feeling that most of us have gone through. The sweats, the chills, clammy skin, restless legs, upset stomach, and overall feeling of worthlessness….definitely not a pleasant experience. My goal with this site is to lead you down the path back to your normal self. In future posts, I’ll talk about how I’ve dealt with withdrawal, and ways that I’ve read can be helpful with the process.
Until then, thank you all…God bless

I just wanted to let anyone know that is coming off the drug Vicodin, the prescription drug Ultram helped me alot. It is non-narcotic so doctors don’t mind prescribing it and if you take like 6 pills per day, it helps tremendously with the withdrawal symptoms. I have used this like four or five times to come off Vicodin without feeling like sh-t. I know that it doesn’t seem that good to replace one drug with another but it is very easy to just stop taking Ultram because the body doesn’t get physically addicted to it. Maybe a little mentally addicting. Most of us do not have time to lay out of work and other responsibilities for days or even weeks to withdraw from prescription opiates so I hope this helps someone. I wish I knew about it a little sooner. Taking Ultram willl obviously not help anyone coming off heavy drugs like heroin.
Hi Angela,
Thanks for your comments. I’m surprised to hear that you’ve never felt any physical withdrawal from Ultram. I remember it was actually quite rough for me, when I tried experimenting with it, but then again, I was never one to take in moderation back then. The thing I remember the most was the terrible headaches. For some reason the headaches from tramadol withdrawal are horrendous.
You can find some horror stories here: http://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_Pharms_Tramadol_Addiction_Habituation.shtml
I do agree with you in that it can really help when detoxing though from traditional Opiate’s. It’s all really a matter of how much is taken, how often and for what reason.
im ready…been taking 3 vic es everyday for 3 or 4 years….so sick of this shit…scored some ulreacet to help…will only use when in dire need will let u know,,,i ave read terrible things as well as some not so terrible about tramdol…ill let u know..
Thanks doug. Let us know how it goes.
I have been “living” on vicodin for 3-4 yrs. I recently had a full abdominal hysterectomy. Well, it was discovered that I was getting pills from a couple of different docs. So I have been put on a “list” for no more vic. Which is a blessing in disguise for me. NOW~ comes the part where I have to learn how to function without this in my life. Also, how does one get over the embarrasment of being “caught”
Johan,
Getting caught is not a fun experience…trust me. 🙂
And, it’s not easy to get over it either, but the best way to move forward is to resolve to stay clean. These days your medical records are easily accessible and, usually once you’re labeled as a “drug seeker,” then it’s probably tough to get off of that list. But, if you make the effort to never behave like that again, then it won’t even matter. As you move farther away from that person you once were, you’ll learn to distance yourself from that incident.
Best of luck to you.
okay, ill be honest, i could go through a bottle of 90ct. vicodin ES in 2-3 wks. hence, the hysterectomy which was in may, along with arthritis in my back… i knew that it was only going to be a matter of time before it all came to a halt. i have been taking 1/2 doses to help wean myself off. i have 4 left. whatelese can i do to help with the side effects.
also, i have also been a mutual friend w/ my one doc. i do not expect her to jepordize her license, but know i feel that any furture visits will feel strained and awkward. what do i do for all of the above?
How long did you withdraw? Kinda scared, not sure I am ready. I have been off for 3 days cant sleep, I feel like any touch is going to send me over the edge. any advice will be helpful! Thank you
HI everyone! Well, I’ve been taking the drug for hmm Id say around 7 years total. Its ruined my life and my family. Ive already lost evrything that means most to me so I went back to them. Ive been through many withdrawals but not enough to ever get advice. There is a drug called Suboxone. It leans you off of Vicodin with no withdrawals.
http://www.suboxone.com/
Ask you doctor for the Suboxone Program, they start you at 4 pills a day than lean you off. It doeds really work for a lot! Althought not for me. Methodone is a great Alternative! i WISH YOU ALL WELL! REMEMBER! MIND OVER POWER!
This may sound stupid also but if you create small cuts on you arm ( Forearm, hand, etc) that also releases Endorphines rapidly. It will last from 2-4 Hours. =)
Thanks.
This is really helping me to figure out what to do next. This is day 3 for me and I am doing very well. I may even save my marriage of 31 yrs. I was truly wanting a divorce so I could snuggle up to me addiction. Just me and my pills ha ha………Thanks for the support.
Maggie

Thats when its dawned on me that I was addicted. Hang in there , you will be able to sleep again, and things will go back to normal, answer me in this column and I will help you, we can help each other…….Maggie

It is extremely irresponsible to suggest to people that they “cut” themselves to release endorphins. What is remotely healthy about that? I really hope you get the help you need, and I mean that from the bottom 0f my heart. Make sure you tell your physician your beliefs on “cutting.” There are much better ways to release natural endorphins, exercise being number one. Please get some help in dealing with the core of your self destructive tendencies! I am praying for you. Please, anyone reading here, don’t “cut” yourself to relieve your pain! I could barely believe that post when I read it. Good luck to everyone here. It will be so worth it!
I was in a car accident and had a lower back and wrist injury, I started taken Vicoden to help ease my pain because I am a mother of 3 young children and i notice my pain was affecting my life. I have been on them for 4 months and I have notice the demon within me. I have been taken about 4 to 6 pills a day. I have bought them illegally and had friends and family get me some. I haven’t had one for two days and i cant sleep, i think about getting them all the time, and the cramps that i get are in my back that causes more pain (because I am not healed yet) and makes me want them more. This is the first time I have told anyone of my addiction. I plan on tonight having the first conversation with my husband about my addiction and I am so scared. I don’t know how to handle this.. I feel like I am losing my life. I don’t want the pain, but I cant stand this feeling of needing the pills anymore. I need help!
